Indian Car/SUV Brands (Local Brands)

Hi there, we are here with our fourth post of this blog. In this post, we will discuss Indian car manufacturers. There are few Indian origin companies which make cars/SUVs. So we are listing some of the foreign companies owned by Indian and foreign companies with a minority shareholding of Indians. Without include theses foreign companies, this list would be so short. Ok, without wasting your time let’s begin.

Jaguar and Land Rover, now J&LR is acquired by Tata Motors in 2008. Maruti is a minority shareholder in Maruti Suzuki.

There is an interesting story related to J&LR. In 1999 Tata team went to Ford the owner of J&LT at that time. Tata wanted to sell its declining car business to Ford. But they discussed with Ford officials but they were meted out humiliating treatment. In 2008, nine-year after the humiliation, time changed. Tata acquires J&LR from Ford for 2.3 billion dollars.
